Chapter 01 — Why this exists

ATS pricing is the most opaque line in HR tech.

You ask for pricing. You get a discovery call. You sit through a demo. Two weeks later, a quote arrives — and it bears no relation to anyone else's quote for the same product. Vendors price by company size, by industry, by how desperate you sound, and by whether procurement is in the room.

The Hidden ATS Pricing Index ends that. Sixty-four vendors. Real anonymised quotes from 1,200+ buyers. Median, low and high price per seat. Renewal uplift terms. Implementation fees. Module unbundling. Everything the sales rep will not put in writing until you sign an MSA.

It is free, it is public, and it is updated quarterly. No vendor pays to be included. No vendor pays to be excluded. The methodology is published in full so you can verify every number.

Chapter 02 — How it works

    One spreadsheet. No demos required.

    1. 01

      Pick your shortlist

Filter the 64 vendors by company size, region, deployment model and feature category. Get the five to ten that actually match your context — not a random Gartner quadrant.

    2. 02

      See real prices

Median per-seat cost, low and high range, with sample size. Implementation fees, integration fees, renewal uplift terms. The number procurement actually negotiates from, not the website list price.

    3. 03

      Spot the hidden lines

Per-job-posting fees. Per-application overage. Module unbundling tricks. Mandatory professional services. AI features sold as separate SKUs. Every vendor's tactic flagged with the source quote count.

    4. 04

      Build a clean RFP

Use the index columns as your RFP template. Vendors who refuse to disclose any of these get removed from the shortlist before the demo — saving 15 hours per evaluation cycle.

    5. 05

      Negotiate from data

Walk into renewal with the median for your tier. Walk into procurement with the high range. Vendors discount when buyers come prepared. The discount averages 18 percent on disclosed cases.

    What you see

    Sixty-four vendors. One honest table.

Each vendor row shows median per-seat cost (with sample size), implementation fee range, contract length, renewal uplift, hidden fees flagged, AI module pricing model, GDPR and AI Act compliance posture, and a link to the methodology footnote. Sortable, filterable, exportable.

    Vendor pricing tactics we expose

    • — Annual uplift clauses with no cap (median observed: 11%)
    • — AI features unbundled as separate SKUs after the contract is signed
    • — Mandatory implementation services priced at 30–80% of year-one license
    • — Per-application overage fees that activate at modest volume
    • — Hiring-manager seats priced as full recruiter seats

Vendors that score well on transparency

    • — Public per-tier pricing on the website with no discovery-call gate
    • — Renewal uplift capped at CPI or a fixed percentage in standard MSA
    • — AI features included in subscription, not sold as add-ons
    • — Implementation included or capped at one month of license
    • — Hiring-manager seats free or bundled at a fraction of recruiter seats

    Frequently asked

Where do the prices come from?

Three sources, weighted equally: (1) public website pricing where disclosed, (2) anonymised contract submissions from 1,200+ procurement contacts in our buyer network, and (3) RFP responses shared with the TenPerZent buyer-side advisory program. No vendor ever sees another vendor's contributed data, and we never publish individual quotes.

How is this not biased toward TenPerZent?

TenPerZent is one of 64 rows. Our pricing is on the public website — anyone can verify our entry. We are scored on the same dimensions as everyone else and do not score ourselves better than the methodology supports. Several competitors score above us on specific dimensions. We publish that anyway.

    How fresh are the numbers?

Refreshed every quarter. The cohort moves slowly — most ATS contracts are 2–3 years long — but renewal uplifts and module pricing change monthly. Each row shows when it was last verified and the contributing sample size.

Can I contribute my own quote?

Yes. Submit anonymously through the contributor form (linked from the index). Your contract is encrypted, anonymised, and the only thing we ever publish is aggregated medians. Contributors get early access to the next quarterly refresh.

What if my vendor is not in the index?

Tell us. We add vendors with at least three independent disclosed quotes. The current 64 covers more than 95 percent of the EU and US mid-market by adoption, but we keep adding niche and regional vendors as the contributor network grows.
