    Six trends shaping the year

    Trend 01

    AI screening crossed the chasm

62% of hiring teams now name AI a top-3 investment, up from 44% in 2025. The blocker is no longer scepticism — it's vendor sprawl. Median tooling stack reached 11 tools per recruiter.

    Trend 02

    The internal mobility quiet revolution

Internal hires reached 27% of all roles filled, the highest figure on record. Companies running a structured talent-pool play are 2.3× more likely to hit Q+1 hiring plans.

    Trend 03

    Time-to-hire stopped improving

After three years of compression, average time-to-hire crept back up by four percent. The driver is interview-loop bloat: median loop length grew from 4.2 to 4.9 stages.

    Trend 04

    Ghosting is now bidirectional

31% of candidates were ghosted after a final-round interview, but 38% of recruiters report being ghosted by candidates after offer. Trust in the funnel is the new bottleneck.

    Trend 05

    Compensation transparency became table stakes

73% of jobs in Q1 2026 published a salary band, up from 51% the year before. Roles without a band took 38% longer to fill.

    Trend 06

Recruiters are the new growth marketers

44% of recruiters now manage their own outbound funnel, content calendar and analytics dashboard. The function looks more like growth than HR every quarter.

    Five predictions for 2027

    1. 01

AI co-pilots become the default — not a feature, but the recruiter's IDE.

    2. 02

The agency commission collapses below 12% in three of five major markets.

    3. 03

Internal mobility tools merge with ATS — single talent graph wins.

    4. 04

Async interview loops overtake synchronous in volume hiring.

    5. 05

Compensation bands become regulated in two more EU member states.
