About the Role
We Create Opinions is seeking a strategic and influential Vice President of Lobbying to lead our Tier 1 advocacy initiatives and shape high-stakes public policy from our New York headquarters. You will serve as the primary architect of our legislative strategy, leveraging an elite professional network to advance complex objectives across local, state, and federal levels. This leadership position requires a master navigator of political landscapes who can translate organizational goals into tangible legislative victories.
Responsibilities
•Design and execute comprehensive lobbying strategies to advance the organization’s primary policy priorities and business interests.
•Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with key legislators, committee staffers, and regulatory agency heads.
•Act as the lead representative and spokesperson for the organization during high-stakes negotiations and public hearings.
•Analyze emerging legislative trends and provide executive-level intelligence on potential impacts to the organization.
•Manage and direct external government affairs firms and internal advocacy teams to ensure unified messaging.
•Draft and oversee the preparation of policy briefs, testimony, and sophisticated position papers for government stakeholders.
•Ensure all advocacy activities maintain the highest standards of transparency and remain in strict compliance with all reporting regulations.
Requirements
•At least 12 years of experience in government affairs, professional lobbying, or high-level legislative office.
•A demonstrable track record of successfully influencing Tier 1 policy outcomes and navigating complex regulatory environments.
•An extensive, active network of contacts within the New York State and City legislative branches.
•Mastery of written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex policy issues for diverse audiences.
•Exceptional negotiation skills and the professional presence required to interface with top-tier political leadership.
•Juris Doctor (JD) or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.
•Deep understanding of New York and federal lobbying compliance laws and ethical standards.
